Special Order Material for a Customer

The simplest way to learn and use JobTracker Inventory edition is to create and receive POs and then assign the resulting serial numbers to jobs (see related articles at the bottom of this page). The approach described here can save you a step when you're special ordering material for a customer (by automatically creating PO lines for allocated material), but this is an advanced workflow. You should master the basics of ordering/receiving material and allocating serial numbers to jobs first.
The basic steps for special ordering material are:
- Allocate material to a job without a serial number (even though the product itself must be serialized).
- Create a PO from the job and add material to it.
- Assign serial numbers on the PO and allocate those serial numbers to the job.
- Clean up unserialized material on the job (if your estimate was greater than the actual square footage of the slabs) or clean up unallocated material on a serial number (if your estimate was less than the actual square footage on the slabs).
