Add Unique Quote Number to Quotes
Background
It is possible to add unique, auto-incrementing quote numbers to Quotes by adding a Custom Field.
Step-by-step
- Select Quote::Edit Settings menu
- On the left, click Custom Fields.
- Click the New Quote Custom Field... button
- For Name, type in Quote Number. For Data Type, choose Auto-number.
- To start at a specific number, enter the number in the Starting Number field.
- To assign numbers to all existing quotes, check Generate value for all existing Quotes.
- Click OK.
Every new Quote will now have a number.
Next, edit your Form Template so the Quote Number will print on Quotes.
To add Quote Number to the Form Template:
- Select Quote::Edit Settings menu
- Click a Form Template and choose Edit Form to update an existing form or Duplicate Form Template to create a copy with the new field, or click on the New Printable Form button and type in a name.
- Click on the Fields button and select Add Form Field.
- Select the Data Type Quote Info. After selecting this data type you will be presented with a drop-down list of fields to choose from. Select your quote number field and click OK.
- The field will be added to the top of the quote. You can move the field by clicking on it and dragging it. Display multiple fields on a single row by clicking on a field and dragging it to the left or right of another field until you see
