Sales Leads - Creating Lead Views

When using JobTracker for tracking Sales Leads (see Sales Lead Toolkit), it's important to create a variety of views to manage those leads. This article contains several commonly useful lead views and instructions for creating them.

Note: Your company's lead tracking process in JobTracker may be named differently, so where the term "Sales Lead" is used, assume that means your lead tracking process.

All Active Sales Leads: Step-by-step

It's common to want a list of all sales leads that have open (incomplete) activities.

To create a View of all active sales leads, begin from Sales Leads::View Sales Leads

  1. Click Options... button
  2. Select Status = Active
    Note: clear any other filters.
  3. Click OK
  4. Verify the view works and click Save View...
  5. Name the view and click OK

Leads Requiring Follow up Calls/Emails: Step-by-step

For a salesperson, this is the most commonly used lead view. It displays all of the sales leads that have a follow up activity scheduled. It's commonly sorted by the next follow up activity date.

  1. Click Options... button
  2. Click Add Filter... and specify a Lead Activity rule where Phone Call/Follow up is NOT canceled or complete.
  3. Click OK
  4. Verify the view works and click Save View...
  5. Name the view and click OK

Leads with Forgotten Activities: Step-by-step

Once in a while, a mistake is made. Not in your business of course, but in someone else's company. To check for leads that have incomplete activities that weren't assigned a date (and therefore don't appear on the calendar), it's necessary to create a lead view that looks for incomplete activities that don't have a date.

  1. Click Options... button
  2. Add filters: a) where Lead::Opt-out date is empty
    b) where Lead:: Opt-out reason is empty
    c) where a Follow up Call/Email or Cold Call activity exists and has No Start Date and is Not canceled
  3. Click OK
  4. Verify the view works and click Save View...
  5. Name the view and click OK

Leads Owned by a Salesperson: Step-by-step

Sometimes it's helpful to see all the leads owned by a particular salesperson. Note: This particular view shows closed & active leads, but it's easy enough to also add a filter to only show active leads by a salesperson.

  1. Click Options... button
  2. Click Add filter... and create a filter for Account Salesperson is #salesperson
  3. Click OK
  4. Verify the view works and click Save View...
  5. Name the view and click OK
